From Sketch to Screen: Students Bring Imagination to Life at Compton College Animation Workshop
The energy at Compton College was electric on Saturday, March 7, as aspiring young artists gathered for a hands-on journey into the world of professional animation. From 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the “Animation Workshop: Bring Your Imagination to Life!” gave students a rare, behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to create the iconic characters and stories we see on screen. The highlight of the morning was the opportunity to learn directly from industry giants. The workshop was led by an incredible roster of talent, including:
Mr. Arthur Romeo (The Simpsons, Family Guy, The Princess and the Frog)
Ms. Clarisse Chu (Soul, Incredibles 2, Coco)
Mr. George Holguin (Nickelodeon series)
These pros shared personal stories from the set, explaining the different roles involved in a production and what a “day in the life” of an animator truly looks like. The session concluded with a lively Q&A, where students asked burning questions about lighting, character design, and breaking into the competitive world of film and television.

Capturing the Future: How a Local Photography Program is Empowering Student Visionaries
Our after-school photography program helps students learn how to take better photos by understanding lighting, composition, and camera settings. Students move beyond quick phone pictures and learn how to use photography to tell stories, share their ideas, and capture the beauty in their own neighborhoods.
Students also take part in a positive “critique” process where they give and receive helpful feedback. This has helped students to build confidence, teamwork, and a strong sense of community. Students get opportunities to share their work through photo displays and exhibitions.
