Lights, Camera, Action! Highlights from Our Television Directors Online Workshop

The screens were glowing and the creative energy was palpable as we recently hosted our highly anticipated Television Directors Online Workshop. It was an incredible Saturday morning dedicated to the art of storytelling, giving aspiring filmmakers a rare, “behind-the-curtain” look at the world of professional TV production.

We were honored to be joined by three powerhouse industry leaders who shared their wealth of knowledge and experience:

  • Hanelle M. Culpepper: Known for her gripping work on Criminal Minds, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and 9-1-1, Hanelle dived deep into the mechanics of building cinematic tension.
  • Mary Lou Bell: With an impressive portfolio including The Big Bang Theory, Black-ish, NCIS: New Orleans, and Station 19, Mary Lou provided invaluable insights into the nuances of both comedy and procedural drama.
  • Mr. Lionel Coleman: Bringing his expertise from hit shows like The Upshaws, Last Man Standing, Mr. Box Office, and A.P. Bio, Lionel focused on the rhythm of sitcoms and character-driven narratives.

This workshop was more than just a class; it was a space to foster creativity and build a community of writers ready to unleash their inner voice. Seeing students engage directly with the directors of some of their favorite shows was truly inspiring. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special event. Your passion for storytelling is what keeps the magic of television alive! Stay tuned for more workshops and opportunities to learn from the best in the business.
