2016 Summer Film Camp
Lights, Camera, Action was what this summer’s film camp was all about. Participants developed new skills in filmmaking, made lasting friendships, developed their portfolios, and grew as young artists.
Our summer program was made up of small classes, which welcome group collaboration in all facets of filmmaking including screenwriting, visualization, developing narrative, and the entire production and post-production process.
Participants also welcomed guest speakers, some of which were: Ms. Cinzia Angelini (Storyboard Artist – The Minions), Mr. Leon Anderson (Playwright), and Mr. David Ichioka (Producer – The Boxtrolls).
Along with film screenings on campus, campers also attended many field trips, such as The Grammy Museum, The Lot Studios, USC Film School, and Occidental College to watch the play, “Little Red Frankenhood”.
This year, campers got to enjoy a fun field trip to Knotts Berry Farm and ended camp with a screening to a packed house.
2015 Summer Film Camp
Our Annual Film Camp, hosted through our partnership with Blazers Youth Group, was held this past July. It offered unique opportunities for campers to become fully immersed in a collaborative, supportive, and creative artistic community.
Through the film classes, campers learned to write, direct, shoot, and edit their own short films. In addition to creating their film projects, the group had speakers from several disciplines in the film and tv industry, such as Ms. Loni Steele Sosthand (Writer – “Dog With A Blog”), Mr. Tom Vogt (Editor – “South Park”), and Mr. Neil Brown Jr. (Actor – “Straight Outta Compton”). Campers also had the opportunity to attend field trips to The Lot Studios, New York Film Academy, The Dunbar Hotel, Magic Johnson Theater, and Universal Studios Hollywood.
Campers were assigned to small groups with participants their own age, and they all attend daily classes in scriptwriting, camera direction, and editing.
All campers got the chance to visit Universal Studios Hollywood, CA.
At the end of the week, campers shared their film projects to a packed house.
Thank you to everyone who made camp possible this year!
